The American Chestnut
The impressive American chestnut was once one of the most important timber and nut-producing tree species in its range, until it was almost completely wiped out by an aggressive pathogenic disease (blight fungus).
The Canadian Chestnut Council (CCC) is a scientific and charitable organization dedicated to preserving the American chestnut in southern Ontario and someday seeing it restored as a natural component of our woodlots and forests.
